Tricking Fish: How and Why Lures Work
Sport fishing as a national pasttime may surpass baseball and football, and anglers are as varied as the fish they pursue.
Tricking Fish unravels the mystery of what makes fish bite and not bite by putting the angler inside the fishs fins.
Fishing begins with an understanding of what fish sense: what do they see, hear, feel, taste, and smell? How do they use these
senses to stalk food? The discerning fish hunter must also appreciate why fish respond to environmental factors such as time of
day, current, and weather. Armed with this information, fisherfolk can more intelligently decide what lure to use when and also
be able to predict whether or not the fish will be more or less inclined to bite.
Tricking Fish uses photographs, illustrations, and hands-on objects to provide observant anglers with insights into their quarry.
For those people interested in wild creatures, the exhibit shows how fish also adapt to face a world full of predators.
