TEACHER RESOURCES FROM THE BELL MUSEUM

The Bell Museum is committed to supporting the success of teachers, both in their classrooms and in their growth as professionals. The following resources are intended to promote student learning by providing educators with effective tools to enhance their own skills and experience.

The Teacher Resource Center
The Bell Museum Teacher Resource Center is a non-circulating library rich with resources. Run by knowledgeable staff trained in education and the biological sciences, the center provides answers, specialized information, or referral to other resources in the biological sciences. Consider it your first stop when planning lessons, conducting research, or seeking fresh ideas and techniques. Educators are welcome during museum hours or by special appointment.

To make arrangements for this service, call Erin Rupp at 612-624-8245 or e-mail teacherresources@bellmuseum.org.

Artifact Loans
Bring artifacts and specimens into the classrooms by borrowing from the museum's educational collections. Specimens include bird study skins, mammal study skins, animal bones and skulls, fossils, rocks, shells, antlers, and horns. Teachers in any discipline will discover relevant collection materials to enhance their classroom lessons and activities. Borrow up to eight items for seven consecutive days or one item for three weeks. To make arrangements for this service, call 612-626-7133 or e-mail j.menken@bellmuseum.org. Cost: $55.

Opportunities for Professional Development
Educators can grow as professionals with the many opportunities available via the Bell Museum. Options include consultations with experts, collaboration with scientists on laboratory research projects, participation in field learning experiences, and observation of University classes in the biological sciences. Many programs can be taken for continuing education or college credit. To discuss options addressing your specific goals and interests, please call Erin Rupp at 612-624-8245.
