Education

The Minnesota Herpetological Society is active in many aspects of herpetological education. For instance, MHS developed and implemented educator workshops that help to prepare classroom teachers and naturalists to use reptiles and amphibians as themes in the classroom by providing them with training and materials. Four "Tips and Tools for Teaching About Reptiles and Amphibians" workshops were held in 2001.

A "Reptile and Amphibian Resource List" was developed in coordination with the workshops and provides workshop participants with curriculum ideas and resources.

Another important aspect of herpetological education are hands-on events. Throughout the year MHS members participate in these events with their animals, allowing the public to encounter reptiles and amphibians in a positive manner.
