Snake Tropidoclonion lineatum Length: 22-38 cm (8-15 in.) Range: This snake is found throughout the Great Plains into central Texas. Lined snakes prefer prairies and savannas. Eating Habits: They feed on earthworms, as they smell them in the darkness. |

This is a small, dark brown snake. As its name implies, there are three pale yellow stripes running all along its body. Its underside is white or pale yellow and is marked with a double row of black solid semicircles. This species is normally nocturnal and hides during the day. |
