Grass Family (Poaceae)
Habitat/Range: Blue Grama is grown throughout the Great Plains, and is found in association with buffalo grass in the short grass prairies.

Blue Grama is a native, perennial, warm-season, short grass that seldom grows taller than 12 to 20 inches. It is hardy and resistant to drought and heavy grazing.

Blue grama is the state grass of New Mexico and Colorado
