JASON XIV: From Shore to Sea. For the 2002-2003 school year, JASON XIV: From Shore to Sea will bring students and teachers on an exciting expedition of the Channel Islands. This incredible chain of eight islands off the coast of California is known most for its dynamic geological history and unique ecological niches. The JASON team will study both terrestrial and marine ecosystems that extend from the California coastline to the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary to the islands themselves. More specifically, the Research Team will look at the following themes:
