Raptors are an excellent medium through which to study environmental and ecological issues. Poised at the top of the avian food chain, birds of prey act as indicator species, providing us with an early warning of environmental hazards. By demonstrating that science is both interesting and important, Raptors LIVE! hopes to encourage more students to pursue careers in science. The curriculum contains lecture materials and fun activities
aimed at showing how raptors demonstrate important environmental and ecological
relationships. The video takes students to the world famous Raptor Center
at the University of Minnesota to witness behind the scenes rehabilitation
of injured eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls. Students will observe diagnosis,
treatment, physical therapy, and surgeryand finally, the release
