The BCM sponsored workshop “Inventory and Monitoring Programs for Breeding Birds in Minnesota” was held in Duluth on February 14-15, 2007. This workshop was hosted by UMD Natural Resources Research Institute and Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together people who are either doing survey/monitoring programs or are interested in the results for an exchange of ideas and information on all breeding species.

The workshop objectives were to compile a catalogue of programs that inventory and/or survey breeding bird species, to share information for synergism of ideas, and to plan for increased coordination and data management. Presenters shared information about the purpose, methods and accessibility of data that they collect. For pdf summarizing a substantial amount of the current information gathered on Minnesota's breeding birds click here. This is valuable information in our efforts to conserve Minnesota's rich diversity of birds.
